How the couple behind creative marketing agency LIVID worked with experts from the Impact Lab to lay a strong foundation for their growing business.

Husband-and-wife team Jason and Poppy Wurz are, first and foremost, creatives.

Combining their shared passion for creativity and their prior experience in digital marketing, Jason and Poppy founded LIVID, a creative marketing agency focused on crafting brand experiences that produce tangible results.

They’ve worked with luxury lifestyle companies and ambitious tech startups. Their focus on SEO and social media strategy, delivered through content marketing, creates bonds between aspiring brands and their customers while driving business growth. They also have a nonprofit arm to their business, where they donate their time and resources to empower children’s education through nature-based learning in Sumbawa.

When Jason and Poppy came to our Impact Lab, their business was actively growing.

They came to us looking for help building an infrastructure to grow their business and reward their employees for the hard work they were putting in.

Additionally, Jason and Poppy were wearing so many hats besides CEO and COO that they didn’t have much opportunity to give the same love and attention that they invested in their clients to their own internal marketing.

Our team paired Jason and Poppy with Pat, a fractional CFO who would help them gain clarity around their pricing, revenue and expenses. Pat also helped them account for the expenses it would take to hire a new employee, one of their goals for their time in the program.

After increasing their service pricing and focusing on sales growth, LIVID was able to go from breaking even to making a profit and doubling their revenue. With Pat’s help, they were also able to complete a financial model that outlined a clear path to generating a million dollars in annual revenue within the next three years.

Now that Jason and Poppy are clear on where they’d like to go as a company, they’re able to make a plan for other areas they’d like to focus on. They are equipped with customer relationship management (CRM) tools so they’re able to keep track of potential clients, and in general have better infrastructure as a company through the use of digital tools to keep them organized and all on one page.

With the groundwork laid for sustainable growth, Jason and Poppy hired a social media and content manager to help with their workload.

Now, they’re freed up to focus on the overall strategy for their company because much of the nitty-gritty work has been outsourced, and there are systems in place to keep things running smoothly across different platforms.

Even more, they can now see a future where they’re able to hire more talented marketing and social media professionals onto their team to deliver high-quality content for a growing list of clients.

Jason and Poppy’s story is similar to the one told by many of the small business owners who come to our Impact Lab: They have a nonprofit arm they’re passionate about, but need help growing their business in order to contribute to their passion sustainably.

Here at Mission Edge, we get excited about opportunities to support entrepreneurs in our community so that they are better-equipped to go out into the world and make a difference.
