Angela Niblett has a full-time job in healthcare, but she’s passionate about her part-time role as a DJ.
Owner of iLLMeca Productions LLC, Angela has honed her craft as a DJ over the past five years. She wanted to transition away from her healthcare role and DJ full-time — but she knew she needed to account for the income she’d lose before quitting her job.
Angela has plenty of ideas for expanding her business, from events, community center kids’ programming and even offering setup and breakdown services for other female DJs.
Angela knew she needed help figuring out the steps between her current part-time DJ status and the growth she wanted for her business. That’s where Mission Edge came in.

The Problem
Angela’s biggest challenge is juggling the demands of her two-job schedule while trying to grow her business enough to support a full-time income.
She also wants to break into the corporate event and wedding industry, but needed to set new, sustainable rates and ensure she was getting paid for all of her work.
Where mission edge came in
We wanted to help Angela achieve her goals and pursue her passion full-time.
First, we discussed a detailed expense budget, evaluated the impact of reducing her hours at her healthcare job and calculated just how much she’d need to make in order to reduce those hours and eventually quit that job altogether.
Together, we identified some opportunities for Angela to increase her project rates. We also created a financial model to map out her income and expenses.
Since she came with ideas, we explored various options for different revenue streams, including DJ streaming online, to help her balance her roles as a DJ and future parent.
The solution
Sometimes you just need a perspective check before you move forward. After working with us, Angela had better insight into her financial situation and was able to develop a clear plan for how much income she’d need to keep pursuing her DJ career while simultaneously preparing for parenting full-time.
She was also able to recognize the importance of pricing for her services — this helped her draft a financial model where she could explore various revenue streams she hadn’t considered before like online DJ streaming.
