How the Impact Lab helped this DJ move from ideas-mode to executing on his dreams
Daniel “DJ Danny” Torres is a SoCal-based professional wedding and corporate event DJ.
When Danny started working with us, he already had an amazing track record — he was closing 65% of new DJ gig opportunities, and in March 2023 he brought in over $10,000 in revenue.
With the ultimate goal of opening his own venue space, Danny needed some assistance setting up for long-term success.
The Problem
Like most of the small business owners we work with, Danny didn’t have a background in finance before he started out as an entrepreneur.
He started working with Mission Edge seeking help to set revenue goals and optimize his pricing strategy.
Although Danny has other DJs in his collective that he’s able to earn a 10% commission from, as an entrepreneur, Danny can only be in one place at one time. He didn’t want to increase the number of events he did, but he knew he’d need to find a way to gradually increase revenue in order to reach some of his financial goals.
Where mission edge came in
We paired Danny with Pat, a finance expert who worked one-on-one with him to evaluate his financial goals and figure out how to achieve them.
Pat helped Danny rework his pricing structure for event packages and reviewed data from past events to identify whether there were identifiable “busy” and “slow” seasons. Pat also showed Danny how to use Quickbooks to align his business expenses.
They also took a look at Danny’s long-term wedding venue goal and talked through costs and financial implications he should consider.
The solution
Danny already had a successful business. But he needed some extra perspective to help him move toward his goals and prepare for the future.
After our program, he walked away with a comprehensive financial forecast that considered various factors such as pricing adjustments, expenses and potential expansion.
Now, Danny is not only empowered to make informed decisions about his business, but he’s also equipped to navigate future opportunities and challenges with confidence.
