Fiscal Sponsorship by the Numbers

Fiscal Sponsorship by the Numbers

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than ten years since Mission Edge started in 2011.

We’ve grown a lot since then— we now have over 30 employees and serve over 100 organizations.

But our passion for creating change and furthering our clients’ goals are still the driving force behind everything we do, and over the last year, we’ve made significant progress in advancing our clients’ nonprofits so that they can make a bigger impact.

Mission Edge started in 2011

One of the main ways we do this is through a service called fiscal sponsorship, where organizations without their own 501(c)(3) can operate under Mission Edge’s legal status while they grow.

And in 2022, we celebrated some big milestones, including:

  • More than $40 million in revenue from our fiscally sponsored projects since 2014.

  • More than 114 projects sponsored since our start.

And, perhaps most excitingly . . .

  • More than 400 individuals employed due to our fiscal sponsorship practice.

Some of those improvements include:

  • Empowering our clients to track every aspect of their growth by providing them with more detailed monthly financial reports.

  • Developing a grant database to track their support of Mission Edge and allow for report reminders.

  • Improving our client intake process so we can track their growth in our program from start to finish.

When we take on a new project, we want to provide our clients with the structure they need to cultivate growth and the tools that will eventually help them reach new heights all on their own.

In 2022, we brought on 15 new projects, which brought our active projects up to 42. And, our favorite part — we helped 10 transition out of Mission Edge to operate as independent nonprofit organizations.

At the end of the day, the reason we love our work is because of its potential to have a positive impact on our neighborhood and our world. When nonprofits have access to resources, they’re able to share those resources in the form of jobs and services, both crucial aspects of building strong, thriving communities.

That’s why we’re so excited to share that in 2022 alone, we were able to give 167 individuals jobs, and disburse $7.4 million in funds.

We place a high value on transparency, both with each other and with you, our community. If you’d like to learn more, check out our 2022 Fiscal Sponsorship Annual Report — it’ll give you an inside look at we’ve been up to this last year.

As always, we’re incredibly grateful to our community. Your support makes our work not only possible, but enjoyable. If 2022 was this good, we can’t wait to see what 2023 has to hold.
